It may only be March, but it’s already Oktoberfest season!
La Crosse’s annual festival Thursday revealed its 2019 commemorative button.
Organizers chose this year’s winner based on the theme “Fest with das Beste.” Their choice features fest dancers at night next to the fest grounds building, along with the traditional maple leaf and Wisconsin map.
Mary Schill, who has now won the Oktoberfest button design 4 times, says while she’s competed in many other competitions, Oktoberfest is one of her favorites.
“La Crosse made me a designer, so to be able to give those pieces back for what I became later in life is great. And at an ancient, or aged series of life, to be able to still do it is wonderful,” said Schill.
The Oktoberfest button is only commemorative nowadays though. The group last year decided to require a paper pass at the gate instead of the button.
